Printer not showing up in "Devices and Printers" after upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

My HP LaserJet 1018 is attached (via USB), has the latest drivers installed, is recognized by Windows when I install it BUT

DOES NOT APPEAR IN "Devices and Printers" after installation

DOES NOT PRINT

Hi,

Please check to see if a printer is installed:

1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

2.Tap or click PC and devices, and then tap or click Devices.

If your printer is installed, it should appear under Printers.

3. If your printer isnt listed, tap or click Add a device, and then select your printer to install it.

I re-installed with a "clean boot" option and it was sorted...
